OSMEXO vs OpenRouter
Both give you many models behind one API. OSMEXO sources each model from several providers, verifies every route against the vendor’s own API, and bills at or below list price. We read OpenRouter’s published prices every day and show the result below, including where they are cheaper.
Same model, side by side
Blended price for 1M input plus 1M output tokens, from OpenRouter’s published list and our catalog, checked 22 October 2026. Across all 65 models we can match with the four gateways we track, OSMEXO is cheapest on 61 and more expensive on 4.

Moving from OpenRouter takes two lines
Keep the OpenAI SDK and your prompts. Change the base URL and key, then use OSMEXO model ids, which follow the vendor/model pattern. Run the verify script on any model before you move traffic.
from openai import OpenAI
client = OpenAI(
base_url="https://api.osmexo.com/v1", # was the old gateway's URL
api_key="osm-...", # your OSMEXO key
)
OSMEXO vs OpenRouter, answered
- Is OSMEXO cheaper than OpenRouter?
- On most shared models, yes. We read OpenRouter’s published per-token prices every day, together with DeepInfra, Novita, Together AI. Across the 65 models we can match, OSMEXO bills less than the cheapest of these gateways on 61 and more on 4. Each model page shows the current numbers.
- Do I have to rewrite my OpenRouter integration?
- No, if you use the OpenAI SDK or an OpenAI-compatible client. Change the base URL to https://api.osmexo.com/v1, use your OSMEXO key, and use OSMEXO model ids such as anthropic/claude-sonnet-5. Prompts, streaming and tool calls stay as they are.
- How do I know OSMEXO serves the real model?
- Every route is scored against the vendor’s own API before it serves traffic: tokenizer fingerprint, knowledge cutoff, a hidden-prompt probe and exact-output tasks, 0 to 100, with 85 to pass. You can run the same script yourself with your own vendor key, so you never have to take our word for it.
- When is OpenRouter the better choice?
- You need a model OSMEXO does not carry yet, or you want to pin requests to a specific named provider. OSMEXO is OpenAI-compatible only and focuses on serving popular models at or below list price through verified routes.
